Parties, Parties, and More Parties

The girls have been enjoying some really fun birthday parties from their classmates.

Isabella's friend Abby had a really grown-up tea party complete with china. The girls enjoyed dressing up and being served tea sandwiches and sweet treats.

Alexa was not too excited about being on the side-lines. She wants to do everything her big sisters do.

We went to a great Easter Egg hunt put on by a local church. We had a great time playing in the jumpers, bowling for fun and other assorted festival activities.

We also had a great time at a "Fancy Nancy" party where the girls go to choose a feather boa, costume jewelry, make a Spring hat with flowers. They even made a purse and jewels some DIVA sunglasses. They had their nails painted and enjoyed being served (once again). Grown-up tea sandwiches, bon bons, and fruit slushes out of a champagne glass. (when is it mommies turn?) Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the party, but needless to say Daniella was in her element. She was "working" the room. We had such a great time.

Happy Easter!

WOW, I new I was behind in posting, but February-Yeks! I've been a bit busy.

I think I lost my camera at an Easter Egg Hunt this weekend at the park, drats! Grace Park Church sponsored an amazing 11,000 egg hunt at Evans Park. It was great fun, with games, music, art and of course, lot's of Easter Eggs to find. I was really surprised as I stood in line behind the barricade of rope how anxious the girls were to start and how independent Isabella was in her search for the best eggs. I was a bit nervous as hundreds of kids raced around the park that I wouldn't be able to find Isabella when it was over. I held on to the baby and Daniella and raced around- not good chiropractic form. If anyone would have seen me bending over with the baby in my arms, they surely would have said "practice what you preach, Dr. Brenda" Sometimes a mom's got to do, what a mom's got to do-right? So hopefully I will find my camera with all the Easter photos and post them later. Oh, by the way, Daniella won a special price- a Glamour Day at Glitter Glam in Cool Springs (for those of you MN friends, it's like Libby Lou's at MOA). She was so excited to go and get her hair and make-up done- she received the perfect gift for her personality. Isabella on the other hand, said she would just watch.

Daniella had her tonsils out at the end of March. She had been suffering from enlarged tonsils and adenoids apparently. They became so big, that she was having a difficult time breathing at night. It was very stressful listening to her "try" to breath. The surgery went great! The doctors said her tonsils were "GInormous" - not enlarged, not big, but GI-normous. The day of the surgery I was filled with a lot of anxiety because she had never been to the doctors before, nor had she ever taken a medication. The nurses and doctors were shocked to hear that she had never taken anything before. They gave her "loopy juice" prior to taking her into surgery. It was supposed to make her "loopy" and not remember them putting her under the anesthesia. I asked if mommy could have a "grande" version of the special juice?

When we went home, Daniella asked for her Ice Cream that was promised to her for weeks prior to the surgery. It was all about the ice cream, however, we were told not to give her ice cream or any dairy for three days. WHAT? When she asked, I had to tell her that we bought her some Popsicles and that she could have the ice cream in a few days. Her response, "I'm so angry", you said I could have ice cream. I was angry too, why didn't they tell us that prior to the surgery and what has changed over the years- haven't you always heard about ice cream after getting your tonsils out? She ate lot's of Dora the Explorer chicken noodle soup, along with Princess, Fish and Star noodle soups. Did you now they have a chicken noodle soup for every theme practically- who knew? I certainly didn't. The next stage was the "bad breath" oooooooweeeeee, you are not kidding. They said when the tissues in the throat begin to scab over you will have some smelly breath. Oh no, I thought something died in there. I had to tell her teacher about it because she may have thought we hadn't brushed her teeth in a week. So now that's all over with and she is sleeping soundly and so are we.

The next challenge is a dentist appointment for Isabella. Her adult teeth are growing in behind her bottom front baby teeth. We have been working on eating foods that would loosen up the baby teeth so that she wouldn't have to have them pulled. This is going to be a tricky one, if she has to have them pulled. Momma needs to "BUCK-UP" I can't stand to see my babies scared, anybody got some good Tequila? So wish us luck on April 29th at 9:00am. Pray that I have the nerve to be her strength during this scary time.

Alexa is growing up so fast. I suppose because she has two big sisters to watch and emulate. She wants to do everything they do. She loves to swim in the bath tub-yes, swim. She is not afraid of the water at all and gets on her belly and kicks her legs. Water goes up her nose and in her mouth and she just laughs and continues to flood the bathroom. She is so adorable and has really bonded to Chris during the past few months. Their favorite pass-time, "napping". Mom always gets ripped off! (just kidding daddy). She is a feisty one- not taking any grief from her sisters- literally pushing them out of the way when they want to sit on my lap. She is going to be a take-charge women. She loves to listen to Barry Manalow. Yes, I said Barry Manalow, Chris has introduced the girls to the CD and they play it in the car constantly (ahhhhhhhhhhh). The Copa-cabana comes on they all sing and act it out. Daniella actually said to me one day on the way to school "mommy, when I grow up and have two kids. I am going to call them Lola and Rico) I know, laugh out loud if you want, I did. If you don't remember the words it goes like this " her name was Lola, she was a show girls. with yellow feathers in her hair and her dress goes down to there. His name is Rico, he wore a diamond....... Oh the memories (for those of you old enough) Too funny.

I know this is all interesting information, but there comes a time when the blog post just gets too long to read. So more on the subjects later.

Have a blessed day!

Funny things kids say

Hello, it's been awhile and I'm sorry. With working and a one year old always trying to grab the computer, it's been difficult to blog as much as I would like.

I wanted to post some of the funny things the kids have been saying lately.

Alexa is really starting to pick up words and repeats what the girls say often , for instance: "nasty." Yeh, just what you wanted your kid's first words to be, nasty and fart (thanks Chris :)). She has mastered "Up and Down" She actually sings it- uppppppppdownnnnnn" (with inflection).

She just "cut" her one year (upper) molars and it was the first time any of the girls really had trouble. She cried a lot and wanted to be held. We call her my little koala because she loves to just sit on your hip and watch everything you do. She absolutely loves music, worship music is her favorite. Chris will put on a playlist on You-Tube and all of the girls will dance around and sing.
Her latest thing is blinking her eyes or shutting her eyes really tight. She looks so adorable you could just cry and laugh at the same time. Oh my "noosh-noosh"
Don't you just love the pony-tails?
Blessings to all.
Love The Medina5

Oh, what to blog about first?

I'ts going to be a great year!!! Out with the old and in with the new. I suppose most people would say that 2008 was a difficult year- so let's just "move-on.com".

Chris is having a good start to the new year with several new students signing up. He has also had a TV interview spot on the local cable television that has been aired several times. I have had many people say they saw the interview and it was great. In addition to the TV spot, he was interviewed by the Williamson County Parent magazine about Spanky's and his acting classes. I hope this will spark interest and get this ball roll'in. We did have two water pipes burst at Spanky's when the weather was extremely cold. It completley flooded the place, but the good news is that none of his audio visual equipment was damaged. Expect for some dry wall, insulation and storage items; the damage wasn't too bad.

Alexa is up so fast. She is now in a "big girl" car seat and loves it! She also prefers to sit at the table with us and not in her highchair. Everything the girls do, she wants to do- even putting on make-up (see photo).

Her new words are "up & down", this, hi guys, sis (or that could be "this" but I'm calling it as two words)

Her hair is "out of control" It just poofed out like a "Chi-a-Pet" Mother like daugther.

Christmas was a blessing

This working thing is for the birds- no time to blog (hee hee)

The girls had there Christmas programs at school-too cute really. I was teary-eyed the whole time, thinking those are my baby's up there (ok, a bit extreme- I know)

Christmas was so wonderful this year, little stress with many many blessings. The girls had a great time. They received scooters from their grandmother (Grandma Dorethy) and they are having a blast zipping down the street. Isabella is a natural athlete, while Daniella is a little more tenative and would prefer to choreograph a dance for you. Alexa is trying to get in on the game by climbing on Daniella's princess scooter and making her grunting sound (which means, help me, let's get going- NOW LADY). They also received some fun kitchen applicences and a princess tea cart. They are enjoying pretending to serve us breakfast in bed (I wish).

Look Dad, no training wheels!

Isabella decided she was too old for training wheels on her bike. It took about 45 minutes and I have to say- she was doing it!. I have a few bruises from the whole adventure, but overall there were no real injuries to report. I took a video clip on my camera, but I'm having trouble uploading it to the blog (if anyone knows how, please let me know). Anyway, on the video you can hear my mother in the background yelling, "Go Isabella, Go you are doing it, and look at mommy running- she's making buttermilk" Get it? because I was running, my breast milk was moving up and down rapidly that I could potentially make buttermilk. Now that was funny, mom.

Daniella's Thanksgiving Program

You wait your whole life to see your children perform in a school play - and to your surprise (well, not really), your child proceeds to pick their nose rather then sing. Daniella, you are too cute, I love you!
